I admit it: I love nerding out over the science and art of happiness. There are just so many great studies, inspirational stories, and fascinating approaches to this fundamental pursuit of human existence! I wanted to share a couple of my favorite TED talks, in particular, on happiness as it pertains to finding meaning in what we do and as it pertains to our work.

4. Alexander Kjerulf: Happiness at Work

3. Dan Ariely: What Makes Us Feel Good About Our Work?

2. Scott Dinsmore: How to Find and Do Work You Love

1. Shawn Achor: The Happy Secret to Better Work

Because it’s bothering me that there are no women or people of color on this list (seriously, patriarchy and other hegemonic systems of power? You claim all the physical sciences AND the science of happiness? Wtf.), here’s a talk on happiness by Jenn Lim, one of the CEOs of Zappos, a business founded (and succeeding!) on its underlying philosophy of the enterprise of happiness.

Jenn Lim: Applied Happiness

I hope to do another roundup soon–perhaps featuring different disciplinary perspectives on happiness (psychology, behavioral economics, neuroscience…) or (more likely) featuring less talked-about and passed-around-on-the-Internet finds on happiness, by traditionally underrepresented speakers, writers, and researchers.
